WORK WITH BUSINESS LETTER FORMATS AND INSERT DATE AND TIME IN A DOCUMENT

1.         Type Terms on page 43 (Exer. 4)

2.         Read and take notes on pages 43 & 44

3.         Do Exercises on pages 45 (Give them both the title of FULL-BLOCK LETTER.

4.         Be able to identify all the different parts of the FULL-BLOCK LETTER and a MODIFIED BLOCK LETTER.  What's the difference between two? 

5.         Write down what you learned and include the margins and spacing on your finished copy.

 

Day 7

MODIFIED-BLOCK LETTER

SKILLS COVERED:  Align text with tabs, preview an open document, shrink to fit, full-screen view, uppercase mode and change case feature

1.         Type Terms on page 47 (Exer. 5)

2.          Read and take notes on pages 47-50

3.         Do Exercises on pages 50 (Give them both the title of MODIFIED-BLOCK LETTER.

4.         Be able to identify all the different parts of the MODIFIED-BLOCK LETTER.

Finish Exercise 8 on page 64.

PROOFREADERS' MARKS, INSERT/EDIT, OVERTYPE MODE, AND SAVING CHANGES AND RENAMING A DOCUMENT

 

-Type Terms FOR LESSON 2 (exercises 9-16)…..give it the title of Chapter 2 Lesson 2 Terms

-Read and take notes on pages 67-69

-Do Exercises on pages 69 & 70 (WD9 & OWD9)

We start using the files on the server beginning with this exercise. 

NOTE:  Whenever the "On Your Own" problem asks you to use one of your documents, or open from the CD……ALWAYS use YOUR OWN.  I like your stuff better.

Day 16

Exercises 10 & 11 - USE THE READ-ONLY FEATURE, OPEN A DOCUMENT FROM WINDOWS, ENTER DOCUMENT PROPERTIES, DELETE TEXT IN A DOCUMENT, AND WORK WITH UNDO AND REDO

-Read and take notes on pages 71-73 and 76-77

-Do Exercises on pages 74 & 78

-Write down what you learned and also include the margins and spacing on your top copy OWD11.  Staple together in this order….OWD11 (on top), then WD11, & WD10. (Don't print OWD10)

-Don't forget name, date, hour, and label.  Also write what it is on top.  Ie. Modified block letter, memo, news release, etc.

 

Day 17

Exercise 12 - MOVE TEXT IN A DOCUMENT, CUT AND PASTE, WORK WITH THE DRAG-AND DROP FEATURE, AND MOVE AN ENTIRE PARAGRAPH

-Read and take notes on pages 80-81

-Do Exercises WD12 and OWD12 on pg. 82 

Note:  On exercise WD12, they tell you to use Sans serif font, but your computer doesn't have it, so use whatever font you want to, but DO change it to something else. 

On the OWD12 problem make sure you have listed at least 10 things that you've accomplished.

Tell me how you organized your list!

USE THE "SHRINK TO FIT" OPTION ON BOTH, WD12 AND OWD12, SO THAT THEY WILL BOTH PRINT ON ONE PAGE.  DON'T FORGET REFERENCE INITIALS……YOURS IN CAPS.

-Write down what you learned and also include the margins and spacing on your top copy OWD12. 

-Don't forget name, date, hour, and label.  Also write what it is on top.  Ie. Modified block letter, memo, news release, etc. (CALL THIS ONE A "LIST.")


 

Day 18

Exercise 13 - WORK WITH COPY AND PASTE AND COPY TEXT WITH THE DRAG-DROP FEATURE

-Read and take notes on pages 84-85

-Do Exercises on pages 85 & 86  - use "shrink to fit" on both

-Write down what you learned and include the margins and spacing on your top copy WD13.  Staple together in this order….WD13 (on top), and then OWD13 (on the bottom.)  NOTE:  THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM OUR NORMAL PROCEDURE.

-Don't forget name, date, hour, and label.  Also write what it is on top.  Ie. Modified block letter, memo, news release, etc.

 

Day 19

Exercises 14 & 15 - PREVIEW AN OPEN DOCUMENT, PRINT A CLOSED FILE AND MULTIPLE FILES, INTERNET BASICS, USE INTERNET FEATURES IN WORD, AND WORK WITH THE FAVORITES FOLDER

-Read and take notes on pages 87 & 88 and 90-92

-Do Exercises on pages 88, 89, 93, & 94 

ONLY PRINT WD14, NOTHING ELSE, and write what you learned and did on that copy. 

- -Don't forget name, date, hour, and label.  Also write what it is on top.  Ie. Modified block letter, memo, news release, etc.

 

Day 20

Exercise 16 - OPEN AN HTML DOCUMENT, WORK WITH WEB LAYOUT VIEW, SAVE A DOCUMENT AS A WEB PAGE AND PREVIEW A WEB PAGE

-Read and take notes on pages 95 & 96

-Do Exercises on pages 97 and 98 (WD16-1&2, and OWD16)

ONLY PRINT AND TURN IN OWD-16
